🌱🏆 MPE, in confirming its commitment to greater #Sustainability, receives the PRS Green Label Award 2024! 🌱🏆
The award, granted by PRS (a Faber Group company), is given to partner companies that have achieved virtuous results by participating in the controlled reuse and shared use program of CP-type pallets for the European polymer industry.
How does the program work?
PRS has launched a project for sustainability with the goal of improving the environment and implementing innovative practices for a better future.
The pallets used in the polymer industry are collected for reuse, creating a circular system where no material ends up as waste.
A project that can only exist thanks to the collaboration of all parties involved.
Here is the detailed flow analysis…
MPE receives the pallet with the raw material from the polymer producer. Once it enters the warehouse, the MPE material handlers at the Mathi and Villanova plants take the raw material and place the empty pallet in the dedicated area. These pallets are then transported to the MPE Logistics Hub in Villanova, where the pallets are accounted for, the exit document is prepared, and they are loaded onto the PRS company’s truck.
Upon arrival at their destination, the pallets are collected, repaired, and sent back to the raw material producers for reuse.
At the end of their life cycle, the pallets are converted into biomass, which is used as energy to dry and heat-treat new pallets.
This process allows for zero waste production and a significant reduction in carbon footprint.
For every 7 pallets reused, 1 tree is saved.
This year, thanks to the dedication and virtuous work of MPE employees, the company has achieved a recovery rate of over 65%, which means:
How is the recovery rate calculated?
The recovery rate is the amount of PRS pallets that have been collected and received, divided by the total amount of pallets within the pool that have been sent. The “pool” refers to the pallets that remain in the area where pallets can be collected.
